Process

From clay to cupboard

i.

Throw

Each form is centred and pulled on the wheel, then left to firm up overnight.

ii.

Trim & glaze

Feet are trimmed by hand and glazes are dipped, poured or brushed in layers.

iii.

Fire twice

A bisque firing, then a glaze firing that runs through the night. Then we wait.

“Our regulars ask where the cups are from every single week. They feel like they were made for the hand holding them.”

The studio

A one-room studio

Fernhall is a one-person pottery studio in a converted garage in the fictional town of Wrenbury. Every piece is wheel-thrown, trimmed by hand and fired twice. Glazes are mixed in-house, so each batch is a little different.

Open studio on the first Saturday of the month. Wholesale and café orders welcome.
